HOW IT WORKS
On-site massage, also known as office massage or corporate on-site massage, is administered as follows:
Employee is fully-clothed
In a specially-designed chair, brought by the therapist, which typically slopes forward, providing access to the neck and large muscles of the back
In sessions of 10 – 20 minutes or more
In a separate location of about 5′ x 5′
With or without music and/or aromatherapy
Can be employer-pay, employee-pay or a combination. More about pricing.
HOW IT WORKS BEST
Employer-pay on-site massage programs are the most successful. Employers who show they are truly invested in their employees’ well-being by providing corporate massage services as a free benefit typically experience higher participation rates than those who require employees to pay.
Combination programs, where companies subsidize employee-pay programs, as they may subsidize their cafeteria or fitness centre, also work well, depending on the access we have to the employee base and the amount of the subsidy.
At this point, we are still accepting employee-pay programs, under certain circumstances.
MORE IS BETTER
Although a single massage session has clearly measurable health benefits in terms of reducing immunity-sapping stress and decreasing blood pressure and heart rate, once-weekly massages have been found to have a profound and additive effect on the immune system and twice-weekly massages to enhance feelings of affiliation and bonding.
